Ogwus Youth Empowerment and Community Development Organization (OYECDO),
As a non-profit and non-political entity registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), we are dedicated to empowering young people and fostering sustainable community development. Our vision is clear: to raise a generation of socially responsible, economically empowered, and peace-oriented youth capable of transforming their communities. OYECDO is an NGO based in Rivers State, Nigeria, focused on transforming Nigerian youths from social risks into community leaders through a proactive, holistic, and community-driven strategy.
Our Core Approaches are:
- Prevent social vices (cultism, crime, insecurity) and influence behavioral change by giving youth better alternatives
- Combine education (scholarships, school supplies), skills training (vocational programs, entrepreneurship), and sensitization (anti-cultism/drug campaigns, peacebuilding, leadership training)
- Building infrastructure and sustainable projects (e.g., Ogwus Youth Empowerment Complex, 270+ solar lights) for sustainability and safety
- Promote inclusivity, cultural preservation, and gender equality. Creating safe spaces for mental health discussions and inclusive programs for women and marginalized groups.
