The Úpātá Unity Football Cup fiesta which ended in December 2024, was to harness and showcase exceptional football abilities. The rich pool of talent discovered will not only contribute to the Kingdom’s football success but, will also highlight the people’s impact on the national football stage.
Visionary Leadership and Collaboration
Eur Ing Dr. Chinedu Ogwus, a leader in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) and Regional Director for Africa at the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, a seasoned philanthropist and the CEO of Ogwus Youth Empowerment and Community Development, in collaboration with the Úpātá Traditional Council (UTC), is passionate on reshaping the landscape of Úpātá Kingdom through innovative approach and unwavering passion for sport. With a diverse interest encompassing human capital development, grassroot empowerment and sports initiatives, Ogwus has emerged as a pivotal figure in fostering opportunities for aspiring footballers in Úpātá and across Ekpeye communities.
Nurturing Talent and Creating Opportunities
He is imbibed with the overall UTC’s mission to empower young footballers, which is why the likes of Anthony Michael, Izuma Moses and Eke Chibuekwa Destiny have been scouted to resume football trials on Wednesday, December 15 at the Cardinal Football Academy ground, the training arm of the Rivers United Football Club. From securing trials with professional clubs to assisting players in securing lucrative contracts, Ogwus Youth Empowerment and Community Development Organization and UTC, are committed to nurturing talents and creating pathways for success. Driven by their deep-rooted passion, the alliance plan to spearhead various initiatives aim at revitalizing football infrastructure and providing access to quality coaching and mentorship programs. Their dedication to elevating football to greater heights stems from a desire to harness the Kingdom’s untapped potential and showcase its top-tier talent on the national arena.
